DNS Management / DNS Hosting

OK - so you have a Domain Name in your Domain Inventory, and you want to use 'DNS MANAGEMENT' features to manage the DNS. This would a situation where you are not hosting the Website with us, and where your Website Host of choice isn't offering DNS Hosting as part of their Website Hosting.  Normally, most companies (like 9DollarDomains.com) offer DNS Hosting as part of their Website Hosting - but if that is not the situation with your Website Host of choice... then we can supply the DNS Hosting & Management features for you.

So, if you want to use DNS Management services, there are two things you need to do.

1) On the domain name (in each Domain's DETAILS area), you need to turn on the DNS MANAGEMENT feature.

2) Secondly, you'll then also need to point the Domain's DNS pointers to dns1.name-services.com and dns2.name-services.com so that the management features can function.

In other words: You can't select 'DNS Hosting/Management features' to be turned on, and also simultaneously choose to set the DNS pointers to some random custom DNS servers. Our DNS Management API won't be able to communicate with just any old DNS server, only the 'dns1.name-services.com' and 'dns2.name-services.com' servers.

Also, when you go into your Domain Inventory, and go to turn the checkbox on for the 'DNS MANAGEMENT' option, if you can't find that checkbox option, then you may not have ordered that feature when you purchased your domain. In that case, you'll have to open a trouble ticket and ask for the DNS MANAGEMENT features to be turned on. It is a domain-specific feature, so if you have 7 domains in your inventory, DNS Management can be turned on or off individually on a domain by domain basis, for each of your 7 domains.
