.ca Registrations
.ca Registrations require additional fields. The two most common errors that result in .CA domains failing to register are the 'Registrant Type' and the 'Location'
In the Registrant Type field, the simplest is 'Canadian Citizen'. Even if you are registering a company name for your Corporation, selecting 'Corporation' will complicate your registration and greatly increase the chances of it failing. CIRA will basically check the FEDERAL Registry of Corporations to see an EXACT, character by character match. If you type anything wrong, it will fail. If you have a Provincial Corporation, it will fail. If you sneeze, it will fail. :) By far the simplest is to register the name as a 'Canadian Citizen' and put you name as spelled on your Drivers License, and then things generally go simply.
Another common error "Invalid registrant information" is caused by the location field. Instead of entering the full place name you should use one of the following province abbreviations:
- Alberta - AB
- British Columbia - BC
- Manitoba - MB
- New Brunswick - NB
- Newfoundland and Labrador - NL
- Northwest Territories - NT
- Nova Scotia - NS
- Nunavut - NU
- Ontario - ON
- Prince Edward Island - PE
- Quebec - QC
- Saskatchewan - SK
- Yukon - YT
